From 1978 to 1983, the basement of a Polish Church (at that time) became one of the most influent venue of counterculture, creating radically an alternative to the disco-scene. With no-budget, Club 57 hosted the most significant art performances and endless innovations of its time in many different disciplines such music, painting, photography, fashion, film, etc. During these few years, artists like Ann Magnuson, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Madonna, and many, many others started building a new way of art with the legacy that we all know now. In 2017/2018, an exhibition celebrated Club 57 at the MoMA, and a catalog was published for a deeper understanding of its contribution to the cultural scene.
